This is a friendly reminder for Google’s event tomorrow. Some Google users may have received an email invitation for the livestream tomorrow.

For those who didn’t get the invitation,

The event will be held in San Francisco, California. It starts at 12:00 PM EDT, that’s 09:00 AM in Pacific Time (PST.)

For those unable to make it to the event, the email contains a link to a YouTube livestream, which is set to go live at the time of the event.

What am I expecting from the event?

Pixel 2 & Pixel 2 XL

These are obvious things to expect. Last year, Google debuted the first phone in their new lineup; the Google Pixel. This year, we are expecting successors to replace last year’s models and to compete with Apple’s offerings this year. You’ve probably already heard the rumours by now, so I’m just going to provide my features wishlist in this article.

Features Wishlist

  • Edge to edge display
  • Screen embedded fingerprint sensor
  • Standard 30mm equivalent camera lens on the back
  • A wide angle lens to accompany the standard lens
  • Optical image stabilization
  • 1080p 240 FPS slow motion video capture
  • Waterproofing
  • Wireless charging
  • A bigger and reliable battery (I’ve been having issues with my Nexus 6P)

More Hardware Stuff

Last year, Google also unveiled the Google Home; their Amazon Echo competitor. This year, we may see more Google Home-related products. And, don’t forget about the Chromecasts.

Software Stuff

Google is a software company after all. We should expect to see a bunch of software announcements along with their new hardware, like what will be included in future versions of Android. For reference, last year, we also got to see the launch of Google Allo and Google Duo, and we got to see Hangouts take on Slack with new features.

Now, what are you expecting from Google I/O 2017?

Let me know what you are expecting/what you want to see from this year’s Google I/O! Feel free to leave a comment in the Disqus section below, or tweet me @41Danny1. I’ll try to watch the event live during my CSIS 1175 class.
